Not all immigration stories are the same, but they all have a number of things in common. Perhaps the most common is the number of dangers, complications and vicissitudes that the immigrant has to go through in pursuit of his dream of improving his life. the lights of return is undoubtedly one of the most complete stories of this nature, since Soto-Escudero narrates his personal story in great detail, with profound fidelity, without omitting events (however traumatic they may be) or reducing the story to a handful of anecdotes, but rather forms a warm, moving and literary rich narrative body. A great novel that every immigrant should read.
 
Based on the personal experiences of the author, with certain fictional freedoms, Soto-Escudero involves us in a journey of years, in which betrayals, loves, disenchantments, friendships occur... and in which the need for friendship to keep us afloat in many circumstances of life. This is a necessary book.
